This runs directly counter to the natural hierarchy of the house.

If I don’t have a water fountain, the dog doesn’t get a water fountain.

If I don’t have steak for dinner, the dog doesn’t get steak for dinner.

Thus, If I don’t have a hammock to lounge in, the dog is most certainly not going to get a hammock to lounge in.
