“Dogs eat free” at Rogue Brew Pub in Portland
I’m compelled to share this because of the simple fact that it’s awesome. After a long day at work I grabbed Gunner the German Shepherd from daycare at Urban Fauna and took him for a long walk. Although I’m sure he gets plenty of activity there, he still comes out bouncing off the walls. It’s “First Thursday” down in the Pearl so it worked for a nice stroll anyway.
After about 20 minutes of walking I ran into Rogue on 14th. I was surprised at how full it was. Being a lover of IPA’s (India Pale Ales) I thought it’d be a swell idea to park it for a minute and grab a pint. Low and behold there are 5 other dogs tied to the benches enjoying dinner next to their owners.
Turns out, today is the anniversary of the old CEO’s dog. In honor of him, they offer your K9 friend a free meal off the dog menu. Yes, the “Dog Menu”. There were 8 items…. including Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich, Liver Bites, and Beef Stick. We opted for Beef Stick, considering Gunner’s dietary needs.
He was only 1/3 of the way through his stick when i finished my Pint… so he proudly carried it the 8 blocks to the truck and took care of the rest at home.
