Columbia River Natural Food’s Raw Chicken Chub

Good day… interesting day.

Took another trip to Meat’s over on the east side and stocked up on a few varieties of the Columbia River Natural Pet Food chubs.   I love the variety they offer… I haven’t found Gunner’s preference just yet, but we’ll get there soon.  Here’s a pic of the Chicken Chub he had this morning

We tried two chubs of the beef last week and that went well, but most of the different foods he’s had have been chicken based so I’m thinking this is a good direction.  I also know his weight (are “desired weight” as they call it) is 2 – 3 lbs a day.  He’s not there yet, but he’s done 2lbs in a sitting before, so I figured may as well.

He took it down no problem.  unfortunately today is Saturday and I need to work. So, I took him in to Urban Fauna in the pearl a few blocks from my job. Great place… I love everything about it. Stephanie, aside from being a close personal friend, is an exceptional groomer.

Anyway, about an hour into his play sesh he vomited all over the place.  Poor gal watching the dogs thought something was wrong because his barf had red specks in it which look like blood. We’ll, it is blood, just not his.  In retrospect I should have let him eat about half the chub this morning and maybe the other half this afternoon.  In any event they called d I pick him up. At first I wondered why… just clean it up, it’s just barf (I’m as desensitized as a parent). Then she explained the other 15 dogs like to eat barf…

So, I left work a picked him up to take him home.  His attitude is wonderful, so I’m confident this was just a little too much activity so soon after a meal. Good thing we didn’t go swimming.

I gave him a quick run at the park on the way home just to be sure. What a beautiful fall day. He’s FULL of energy, as usual.

I’ve got two more of the chicken chubs and I think we’ll stick to that for a few days before moving back to the beef.  I also got a Duck chub.  Bet that will smell wonderful.
